Summary: A big, beautiful waterfall, that is easily visited. Yellowstone is a marvel, full of waterfalls and other amazing sights. Definitely something to see.

The Upper Yellowstone Falls are in Yellowstone National Park, near Canyon Village. This is a very impressive waterfall, even if it is not as impressive as the nearby Lower Falls.

The best views of the Falls are from the south side of the canyon, at the Uncle Tom's Trail parking area. From here you can walk upstream along the rim of the gorge for several nice views of the falls. There was a trail down into the gorge near the base of the falls, but it was closed due to washouts when I was there.

If you look across the gorge and a bit downstream from the Upper Falls viewing areas you can see Crystal Falls, which falls into the gorge between the upper and lower falls. It is a short walk to Uncle Tom's Trail which leads to wonderful views of the Lower Falls.

Nearby Falls

Yellowstone is full of waterfalls. The Upper Falls and Lower Falls are the grandest, and easily seen from several viewpoints.

Many of the others are roadside falls, such as Firehole Falls, Gibbon Falls, Kepler Cascades, Lewis Falls, Moose Falls, Rustic Falls, Tower Falls, and Undine Falls. Others, such as Mystic Falls require a hike of a few miles, and there are many more wild and remote waterfalls. This map shows the location of some of Yellowstone's waterfalls.
