Summary: Susan Creek Falls is one of several scenic falls along the Umpqua River. This is an easy waterfall to visit, and is on the way to the very impressive Watson Falls and Toketee Falls.

Susan Creek Falls is the first significant waterfall along the Umpqua River east of Glyde. A fairly easy .8 mile trail takes you to the base of this 50 foot waterfall. You can get up close to this waterfall if you wish. Large moss covered boulders lie at the base of the falls.

Susan Creek Falls is located at milepost 28.2 on Hwy 138. There is a parking area on the north side of the road with bathrooms at the trailhead. The trail continues past the falls to the Susan Creek Indian Mounds.

The lighting was tricky when I visited. The base of the falls was in shadow, and probably is in shadow most of the day, but the top of the falls had full sunlight.

Nearby Falls

There are a lot of waterfalls in this area. The similar Fall Creek Falls is 4 miles to the east. The more impressive Toketee Falls and Watson Falls are 30 and 32 miles to the east respectively. The smaller Deadline Falls is 6 miles to the west.
