Summary: Fillmore Glen is not as scenic as Watkins Glen, and it is not surrounded by as many nearby falls. It is still quite lovely and if you have already visited Watkins Glen and the Ithaca area waterfalls, make the trip up to Fillmore Glen.

Fillmore Glen is another of the many glens in the Finger Lakes Region. This is more open and larger than Watkins Glen and not as impressive, but it is still quite lovely.

There are several small falls throughout the glen, and at least one that falls into the glen from the side.

The waterfall pictured above is near the mouth of the glen in an area called the "Cow Sheds". From the looks of it, there used to be a large cave here (the shed) before the ceiling came crashing down.

There is a larger upper falls that is apparently on the far end of the gorge. I somehow missed this. Apparently it is 2.5 miles upstream from the lower falls. I remember the trail becoming less and less defined and must have assumed there was nothing more to see.

Nearby Falls

Montville Falls is a few miles to the north. Buttermilk Falls State Park, Lucifer Falls, Taughannock Falls, Ithaca Falls and Cascadilla Falls are all in the Ithaca area. Hector Falls,Watkins Glen, She-Qua-Ga Falls, Eagles Nest Falls and probably a hundred others are within a two hours drive.
