Kentucky either has fewer waterfalls than one would expect, or its waterfalls are not well advertised. Eastern Kentucky features the Appalachian Mountains and the Cumberland Plateau which are responsible for dozens of waterfalls in other states, but Brainy Geography only lists 11 falls for Kentucky, and of those 11 I could only find information about 6 of them. I would not be surprised if there were many more known only to the locals, especially in eastern Kentucky.
Kentucky does feature Cumberland Falls, the largest waterfall in the south. A number of other falls can be found in the immediate vicinity of Cumberland Falls, and in the nearby Big South Fork National Recreation Area.
Western Kentucky is flatter. Tioga Falls, which flows into the Ohio River valley, is the westernmost waterfall in Kentucky.
Tennessee, Kentucky's neighbor to the south, has hundreds of waterfalls.
