The Great Lakes contain about 18% of the world's fresh water, and a lot of this water is at some time part of a waterfall. Waterfalls can be found near the shores and in the watersheds of all five of the Great Lakes. All the lakes eventually drain into Lake Ontario by means of Niagara Falls, one of the world's largest waterfalls. The above map shows the location of some of the most significant waterfalls in or near the Great Lakes region that I have visited.
