Fonferek Falls and Fonferek Glen are located in otherwise unassuming farm country. The parking area is next to a farm, and from there the glen is completely hidden. The odds of the falls having any water are pretty low unless you show up during the spring melt. I was there the day after a very heavy rain, and the falls were still just a trickle.
The best view of the falls is probably from the east side of the creek. Unfortunately the parking area is on the west side where trees obscure the view of the falls. When the water is low it is easy to cross the creek above or below the falls. It appears that the other side is accessible by car, but I am not sure of the details.
Even with little or no water, the glen is an interesting place. There are some steep walls over 50' high, and an arch. The arch was supposedly created by a cow stepping through an undercut part of glen.
Fonferek Glen is off of Dutchman Rd, also called County Rd. MM. From I-43, take exit 178 and head south.
Nearby Falls
Wequiock Falls is 20 miles to the northeast. To reach it from Fonferek Falls return to I-43 and head north. Take exit 185 and head north/east on 57.
