Summary: This waterfall is best seen after a good rain, when the falls is nearly as wide as it is tall. Otherwise the flow is likely to be very low, if not altogether dry.

Charleston Falls is the namesake of Charleston Falls Preserve. It is a 37 foot waterfall, but the creek does not carry a lot of water. After a good rain the falls can be quite impressive. But it is likely to consist of a number of thin streams as shown in the pictures on this page.

The stream has cut out a nice rocky gorge on its way to the Great Miami River. This part of Ohio is still mostly rolling farmland, so the gorge is impressive for the area. Trails lead down into the gorge to the base of the falls. There is a bridge and viewing area below the falls.

Charleston Falls is a few miles northeast of the I-70/I-75 junction. It is located off of Ross Road about 1 mile west of State Route 202. There are bathrooms at the parking area, and the trails to the falls are wide and well groomed. There are a total of 2.5 miles of trails in the park.

[Ohio] Nearby Falls

There are a number of small waterfalls in this part of Ohio. Clifton Gorge is about 30 miles to the east. Greenville Falls is about 40 miles to the west. Hayden Falls and Indian Run Falls are both in the Columbus area about 70 miles to the east.
