Upper Silver Falls is located in Michigan's Baraga county on the Silver River. The Silver River has many drops, and they are lumped together into the Lower, Middle and Upper Falls. The Upper Falls are the most impressive.
This wild waterfall consists of two main drops with lots of boulders strewn about. The upper drop is the most impressive, but getting a good view of it requires you to cross the river. The falls breaks up in to several segments, depending on how high the river is.
If you are feeling really adventurous, you can bushwack upstream for about a mile to find more waterfalls of a similar size. There is no trail to the Upper Upper Silver Falls.
The falls are east of Herman, which is about 8 miles southeast of L'Anse. To reach the falls head east out of Herman on Keranen Road. Keranen is paved, but the pavement soon ends. Take the first fork to the right, which is Summit Road. Follow this for 1 mile, at which Summit Road turns south and Lahti Road continues east. Continue on Lahti Road for 1 mile until you reach the first left. There is an old gravel pit on the left corner here. Follow this road for 1.5 miles. This dirt road winds a bit, but it should not give a regular car much problem. You will pass an old snowplow blade on the right (pictured below) and shortly after that there is a rough parking area on the right and a trail heading down to the river.
If you continue straight on Lahti Road, instead of turning at the gravel pit, you will soon reach a bridge over the Silver River. You can bushwack downstream from here to see the upper upper falls.

Back in L'Anse you will find Powerhouse Falls and the Falls River Falls. Gomanche Falls is about 5 miles to the north near the middle falls. Canyon Falls is within a 30 minute drive.
