Osterhout Falls is a 15' drop on Mill Run about a half mile before it enters the Susqehanna River. This is a roadside falls and is easily seen by east bound traffic on Route 307. The problem is that there is very little roadside on this twisty, hilly road. There is no shoulder and houses and buildings along the way seem to hang out into the road. Even finding a place to turn around is challenging.
The falls is about 15' high. The creek does not carry a lot of water, and like many falls is best seen in the spring.
To reach the falls from Tunkhannock, head south on Route 92 along the east side of the Susqehanna River. Follow it for 4.7 miles. Take a left on to Route 307, heading east. The falls will be on the right after about a half mile.
Nearby Falls
Buttermilk Falls, another roadside falls, is about 6.6 miles to the south. Moneypenny Falls, a falls on private land but visible from the road located on the west side of the Susquehanna River, is about an 11 mile drive away. Bowman Hollow Falls is about a 22 mile drive to the west. Nay Aug Falls in Scranton is 25 miles away.
