Summary: One of the few waterfalls in Michigan that eventually flows into Lake Michigan. This is a small waterfall, but it is right along the road side and very easy to visit.

Fumee Falls is a road side waterfall along the north side of US 2 about 6 miles east of Iron Mountain. There is a small wayside here with restrooms and a waterpump.

There are three drops to this falls. The main one is about 10 feet high. Above that are two smaller drops. I have seen the height of the falls listed as 25 feet but that must include all three drops and the talus pile at the base of the last drop. In 2004 they added a stair and boardwalk to take you to the top of the main drop.

Fumee Creek flows south into the Menominee River which flows into Lake Michigan, forming part of the Michigan/Wisconsin border. Like many waterfalls, this one gets pretty thin later in the summer, but appears to perk up a bit in the fall.

Nearby Falls

The waterfalls of Piers Gorge are a few miles away to the south. Wisconsin's LaSalle Falls and Long Slide Falls are both within 20 miles.
