Summary: The Lower Falls is an impressive and easily visited waterfall in an urban park setting. If you are in Rochester, or travelling along I-90, stop by and visit the Rochester waterfalls.

This waterfall is 2 miles downstream of the High Falls. This is the last of many plunges along the Genesee River before it empties into Lake Ontario 6 miles to the north. In my opinion it is very similar in appearance to the Middle Falls in Letchworth.

This waterfall can be viewed from the Driving Park Ave. bridge, and from the Maplewood Park Rose Garden on the west side of the river. The views from the trail are somewhat obscured, but you can get a bit closer with some effort. Gorge access is also possible from the east side. As you can see in the pictures, it is possible to get to the very base of the falls, but how I do not know.

Here is a satellite view of the Lower Rochester Falls courtesy of Google Maps.

Nearby Falls

The High Falls are two miles upstream. There is also a Middle Falls in Rochester, but it is largely obstructed by a dam and there are no good viewing areas.
