Summary: This waterfall is the most impressive waterfall in Pennsylvania's Ohiopyle State Park. The pictures on this site show the waterfall at high water. It usually has much less water. The park is named for the less impressive Ohiopyle Falls.

Cucumber Falls is in Pennsylvania's Ohiopyle State Park. This is a large park. The town of Ohiopyle is inside the park and route 381 runs through the middle of it. Cucumber Falls can be reached from Kentuck road. Kentuck road intersects 381 just south of the Ohiopyle Falls. This waterfall is the result of Cucumber Run falling into the gorge carved out by the Youghiogheny River (known as the "Yawk").

There is a well marked parking area just above the falls. There is a stairway down into the gorge that takes you to the base of the falls. There is also an overlook by the top of the falls. Maps are available for free in the park which show you the location of the falls and trails.

It had been raining heavily during my visit, so the creek was quite full. Later in the summer the falls are not so impressive.

Nearby Falls

The parks namesake Ohiopyle Falls is just half a mile away. The "Yawk" repeats this performance 60 miles upstream in Maryland's Swallow Falls state park where you can find the Swallow Falls on the Youghiogheny River and the more impressive Muddy Creek Falls falling into the gorge.
