Summary: This waterfall is not as scenic or as easy to visit as its neighbor Bridal Veil Falls, but if you are on the island you may as well stop by and visit. This is one of the Lake Huron Waterfalls.

High Falls is on Manitoulin Island. It is actually another Niagara Escarpment waterfall. The waterfall is easy to find, and easy to visit. It is in a small park just off of Hwy 6, about 8 kilometers north of Manitouwanig.

The waterfall is in a rather flat, treeless and unassuming location. The creek flows under Hwy 6 and then plunges into its gorge. If you are heading south on Hwy 6 there will be small picnic area on the left. Here you can take a break and have something to eat, but you cannot get a very good view of the waterfall. For a better view, continue south on Hwy 6 for a short distance and take a left onto High Falls road. This is a narrow dirt road that leads back to the brink of the falls. It is in good condition and will give a regular car no trouble.

There is a fence around the top of the falls. I do not know if the gorge is private property or not.

Nearby Falls

The much more scenic Bridal Veil Falls is also on the island. Whitefish Falls and Chutes Provincial Park are nearby on the mainland.
