Water Source: Gomanche Creek

Summary: Gomanche Falls is a small, isolated waterfall. No trails lead to this falls, and more impressive falls can be found nearby.

Gomanche Falls is located where Gomanche Creek tumbles into the gorge cut out by the Silver River. I have seen the falls listed at 15 feet high. The main drop is closer to 10 feet, with some smaller drops above it making up the difference.

There is no trail to the falls. The falls is located about a quarter mile north of where Avron Road crosses Gomanche Creek. Avron Road is the left fork at the end of Dynamite Hill Road. Dynamite Hill Road meets up with US 41 south of L'Anse.

I visited the falls early on a wet and overcast morning. The falls are located in a rather dark little alcove, resulting in the rather misty photos. I know some people love the "waterfall effect", but that is not what waterfalls really look like.

[Lake Superior] [Baraga & Marquette County] Nearby Falls

Back in L'Anse you can find Power House Falls and the Falls River Falls. The Upper Silver Falls are outside of nearby Herman. Canyon Falls is south of L'Anse and Slate River Falls is east of L'Anse.
